Every studio seems to be releasing day one patches ahead of the release of their disc-based titles these days, and Destiny is no exception to the rule. The game sees the release of a day one patch that adds a whole slew of changes to the game—changes that didn’t make it in time for the game’s gold master a couple of weeks back.
“The hours you poured into the beta were instructive, the feedback you provided was heard, and the time you've spent with us so far is humbling,” wrote Bungie on their official site.
According to the developers at Bungie, patch 1.01 will not be the last changes to Destiny, as their goal is to constantly improve the live version of the game.
Indeed, the studio has announced that work is already underway on upcoming patches, some of which will contain new content, others with improvements, and issues that the playerbase may uncover in the following weeks.
The Day One patch for Destiny includes a number of changes to the game’s weapons, builds, talents, maps, activities, achievements, progression, game stability, and user interface. A full list of changes can be found at the official blog.
The patch weighs in at around 300mb, so it shouldn’t take too long to install.
Here’s some changes to the general weapons use in the game:
- Removed weapon speed penalties from extended sprinting
- Capped inventory to 999 rounds
- Fixed several weapons that would display an incorrect magazine size
- Swapping weapons from inventory now only takes 50% of the ammo in PvE
