Super Smash Bros. 4: eShop Sale for Games Starring Smash Fighters

September 8, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Different sale for every week, leading up to the Smash for 3DS launch on October 3.

Less than a month remains before Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS arrives on US shores. In the lead-up to that fateful day, Nintendo is running a series of eShop sales for Wii U and 3DS titles starring all the Smash combatants. There will be a different sale each week — Thursdays at 9:00 AM Pacific through the following Thursday at 8:59 AM Pacific — and the first batch of discounts have already begun.

The stars of Week 1 are Mario, Bowser, Peach, Luigi, Yoshi, Rosalina, and Little Mac. Through the morning of September 11, you can score deals on various retail and Virtual Console titles featuring this crew. On Wii U, you can purchase New Super Mario Bros. U or Super Mario 3D World for $39.99 (down from $59.99), while on 3DS, you can grab Super Mario 3D Land for $19.99 (down from $29.99) or Yoshi's New Island for $29.99 (down from $39.99). On either platform, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream are available for $3.49 (down from $4.99).

For Week 2 (September 11-18), the sales will be all about The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, F-Zero, Mega Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog. For Week 3 (September 18-25), you've got Pokemon, Metroid, and the Wii series. Finally on Week 4 (September 25-October 2), we finish up with Donkey Kong, Kirby, Pikmin, Star Fox, Animal Crossing, and Pac-Man.

In daily update news, director Masahiro Sakurai has posted the above image of the Vault, where you'll be able to sort through extras like trophies, replays, audio, and fight records. Additionally, photos that you take with the built-in screenshot grabber will be rendered in either 2D or 3D, depending on whether or not you had the 3D slider turned on when snapping the photo.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will arrive on October 3. The Wii U build comes later in winter.
