Pathologic is looking for a second chance at Kickstarter, almost a decade after its initial release.
The game’s premise remains the same; an epidemic has struck a small town, and in the span of 12 days, you need to figure out the source of the disease and come up with the best way of eradicating it. While you can freely roam this open world, day after day the situation gets dire, as you progressively find it harder to gain resources, handle the needs of the sick, and find a solution to the plague. You will struggle to survive, and at certain points will have to consider saving only a portion of the townspeople – or eradicate them completely.
In its original release in 2005, the game was well received, but panned for its poor translation. In the years that followed, it garnered a reputation as a cult classic. Russian developers Ice-Pick Lodge have always wanted to remake the game. They are the first to say that the game had many flaws, thanks to mediocre implementations of their ambition, due to their inexperience. Now, they’re taking the best chance they can get, and they are not just going for a technological, graphical upgrade, but an overall rebalancing of the game, including revising the quests, balancing gameplay and AI, and of course, better localization.
The game is planned for Windows, OS X, Linux, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It has barely been a day and they have already raised over $ 106,000 over their $ 250,000 base goal. You can donate here and check out the Kickstarter pitch below.
