Minecraft Will Soon be Exploring Time and Space With a Doctor Who Skin Pack

August 27, 2014 by Stephen Daly

But the TARDIS is only making the jump to Xbox versions of the game.

Doctor Who returned to our screens last Saturday so now seems like a pretty good time to announce that 2,000 year old Time Lord will be making his way to Minecraft on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The pack will be available from September and will cost $2.99/£1.99/€2.85. Peter Capaldi's twelfth Doctor, assistant Clara Oswald (played by Jenna Louise Coleman), and long time villains, the Daleks, will all feature in the pack and the BBC says additional Doctor Who themed packs will be made available over time.

Rikesh Desai, the Digital Entertainment and Games Director at BBC Worldwide UK, commented on the show's official site that, “We’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans. Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we’ve created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft.”

While it's unfortunate news that the TARDIS can't quite make the jump to other platforms because of the BBC's deal with Microsoft, it's a pretty cool pack. Maybe in the Daleks the creepers have finally found their match.

Minecraft was set for release this month on PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One but these versions have almost certainly been pushed back to September.
