Let's bring everyone up to speed.
An anonymous leaker shared some videos of what is supposedly the final build of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. These videos showed off two new characters, Bowser Jr. and Xenoblade Chronicle's Shulk, as well as a returning Ganondorf. A round of screeshots released around the same time as these videos revealed even more new and returning characters — my personal favorite is the Duck Hunt dog!
But then the videos were taken down. As it turns out, the leaker allegedly worked for Nintendo and was in charge of sending screens and footage of the game to the ESRB. The leaker was fired, of course, but he or she still has that Smash copy, which may mean more leaks up through the game's release or until Nintendo finally brings down the silencing hammer of justice.
Since the cat's already out of the bag, we might as well enjoy the spoils — like the batch of screens above, which highlight many unrevealed trophies and game features. One new character that we failed to point out before was Dark Pit from Kid Icarus: Uprising, who appears front and center in one of the shots. We also see the return of Mushroomy Kingdom, the stage from Brawl that looks like 1-1 from the original Super Mario Bros. after a nuclear holocaust.
Enjoy the screens, then enjoy Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS this October 3. The Wii U version will arrive in winter.
