Atari has announced the development of Rollercoaster Tycoon World from Pipeworks Software. Like previous games in the series, players will take control over a theme park, which they’ll be able to build from the ground up to include all manner of park rides, attractions, and of course rollercoasters.
As a management simulation, players will keep their eyes on the budget and maintain the happiness of their visitors as their park slowly grows into something as vast as Disneyland.
New to the series is the ability to visit other players’ parks, and share rollercoaster blueprints with other players so they can construct those rides in their own game.
Also new to the series is the addition of a new multiplayer mode, which allows up to four players to mange the same park online. No word on how money will be managed with four players dipping their hands into the pot, but I’m sure they’ll figure something out.
The game’s publisher Atari notes that Rollercoaster Tycoon World will be a standalone title for the PC without any form of microtransactions whatsoever. In other words, it’ll be nothing like its counterpart on the mobile platform.
Rollercoaster Tycoon World will be out in early 2015.
