Check out this map of Assassin’s Creed Unity’s Revolutionary Paris versus a map of the real thing. We think you will be impressed with how big the game will be when you recognize how big this is.
Ubisoft has already confirmed that you will be able to enter about one out of every four buildings, so unfortunately, you may not feel the full immersive experience. Still, in terms of sheer scale alone, the game will be impressive. Add to that the knowledge that the game is mirroring actual Revolutionary Paris at a scale of 1:1.
Here are some things you can do to get an idea of how big the map is:
Look up Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis. Relax, they’re not that hard to find. These are the islands in the very center of Paris, and that lead to the Seine river, which you can identify as the big body of water close to the center. Imagine all the people found in those islands alone. The famous Notre Dame church is found in Île de la Cité. Now, imagine all the people in that island.
Remember Assassin Creed 3’s Frontier? Unity’s Paris will be 50 % bigger than that. Furthermore, unlike Frontier, Ubi promises a densely populated Paris.
If you want to compare it to Assassin Creed 4: Black Flag, well, the entire land mass of Paris will be bigger than the combined surface area of all the islands in Black Flag combined.
Remember that Paris will have Versailles in it, including the opulent palace, gardens, and surrounding village. Yep, a small village inside that city.
Lastly, remember that Ubisoft promised the city would be seamless. One could argue this was not necessary, but looking at it another way, it reveals the full scope of Ubi’s ambition.
Assassin's Creed Unity is set for release on October 28th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A link to a high resolution version of the map is below.
