Saving the Planet in Earth Defense Force Seems to Require Blowing it up First

In the Earth Defense Force series of games, players are tasked with single-handedly fighting off enormous armies of giant bugs, hulking robots, flying saucers and other horrible things intent on wiping out humanity. A good part of the game is also all about blowing the crap out of the buildings in the game, and in the typical style depicted in Sandlot titles, buildings like to break apart on their geometrically perfect wireframes, rather than in a seemingly random way. That's fine, of course, but it's also just hilarious to see. Sandlot has been using this method of urban destruction for years.
