We have for you the latest trailer for the next Ace Attorney game in Japan, graciously annotated into English by a fellow fan. Remember to turn annotations on before playing.
Information is still slim, but it seems the title translates to Dai Gyakuten Saiban: The Adventures of Naruhodou Ryuunosuke. As we already know, the game is set in the Meiji or Restoration era in Japan, described here as an ‘upheaval of Meiji’. The trailer also refers to Naruhodou and Mikotoba Susato, her assistant, as the founder and forefather. While we already know about Ryuunosuke’s connection with Ryuuichi, it would seem Susato herself could be referred to separately as the ‘forefather’…
Forefather of the Japanese legal justice system? The courts they hold trials in? While the localized Ace Attorney games are set in Los Angeles, the original Gyakuten Saiban series deliberately obscures where in Japan the game is set, kind of like Springfield in The Simpsons. (Admittedly, this might cause problems with localization.) Or maybe Susato could be starting a bloodline separate from Ryuunosuke. Could she have a connection with her modern day analogues in the Fey or Ayasato clans?
She is apparently described in other sources as a lover of foreign detectives, and a progressive dreamer. Her costume also seems to invite associations with Maya Fey, but again, we don’t know enough to say that’s confirmed for sure. We will make sure to keep you updated on this next Ace Attorney, including hopes for a translation, as new information comes up. What we know for sure for now, is this game is coming to the 3DS in Japan.
