It just doesn’t make sense to develop a game for a single platform anymore, according to legendary Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. Not only do projects require multiple platforms in order to find sales success, but Kojima also argues that games should be able to talk to phones and other mobile devices in order to stay relevant.
He dug into the issue during a recent interview with GameSpot.
"We are beyond the times that we're making things for one platform. We have to make things for multiple devices,” he explained. “In that regard, I think that I need to make sure to make things that will still talk to different devices, say smartphones or other things."
How about the PC as one of those devices? Kojima has expressed interest in bringing both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain to personal computers in the past, and he’s seemingly still committed to that idea.
"PC is my original background,” he admitted. “I cannot make a formal release yet, but I originally made PC games for the MSX… I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is something that I would really like to do."
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will launch on consoles March 18.
