Left 4 Dead 2 Will Get A Surprise New Update

August 27, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

Developed by a community of fans but will be released officially.

Left 4 Dead has been an iconic zombie co-op game. Released initially in 2008, the video game franchise went on to bring out another installment, Left 4 Dead 2 in 2009 from Valve. That particular installment is still enjoyed today with fans bringing out new unofficial mods which comes in the form of adventure games, new maps, among other interesting gameplay mechanics. However, fans who are wanting something official like a new installment have been left essentially alone from Valve. That may somewhat change as Left 4 Dead 2 is slated to receive a new official update in the near future.

What makes this interesting is that this game hasn’t received an official new update that features content since 2012. However, this update is not necessarily something Valve has created, but instead, the company is pushing out content from the community of fans. Unfortunately, what this content will entail remains to be seen. Instead, we get a slightly cryptic and vague announcement from the official Left 4 Dead website.

It has been many years since the infection first hit. Radio silence, no sign of life, nothing but lingering hopes… CEDA is not going to save us. But there is hope! A few brave souls have continued the fight against all odds, and soon we can all benefit from their resilience.

“The Last Stand” is an update for Left 4 Dead 2, created by the community, for the community. Additional details will be coming soon. Until then, check out the teaser trailer and prepare to make your Last Stand.

The teaser showcases a map from the original Left 4 Dead called The Last Stand. This map could be enjoyed already through previous mods, but it’s likely that this update will offer more content than just a new map for players. Unfortunately, we’re not sure just when this update will be available for players to download and enjoy.

Left 4 Dead 2 is currently available on the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. However, those that are wanting to enjoy something a bit more current and likely feature similar content then you may want to keep tabs on Back 4 Blood. This game is coming out from the original development team behind Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock Studios. However, there’s no current release date on the title quite yet.
