After a week or so off, EA Sports has decided to update its MMA roster with some serious heavy hitters. Four new fighters have been added to EA Sports UFC, including the woman who the fight promotion considers its biggest start.
We’ll start with the women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey. The 135-pound Olympian might be spending her off time filming movies, but that hasn’t slowed her ascension to the top of the female MMA mountain. The undefeated fighter is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in her division, and her most recent victory was the first she achieved without using her renowned armbar.
Two lightweight veterans have also been given the screenshot treatment. Gilbert Melendez and Benson Henderson, who recently battled for the 155-pound belt, have been at the top of their division for what feels like decades. Both fighters are known for their grueling pace and technical proficiency, and while neither currently has the belt wrapped around their waist, it’s very likely that Melendez or Henderson could be champion in a year’s time.
Lastly, we have brutal brawler Robbie Lawler. This resurgent welterweight has been knocking out 170-pound contenders left and right, and is scheduled to fight for the belt in the next numbered UFC event.
EA Sports UFC is expected to launch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this spring.
