Putting together a solid lineup of players in NBA 2K14’s MyTeam mode isn’t easy. It takes careful construction, sharp skills, and a bit of luck to hoist that all-important trophy, but Reddit user mr-gillespie has spent a great deal of time going from nothing to someone with almost all 99 domination stars. The man with a plan has laid out how he got so good, with his main tips being listed below.
- Make sure you have a main player you’re comfortable controlling, such as LeBron James or Michael Jordan, so that you can score some big points when you need to. Surround him with both shooters and slashers so that the defense doesn’t only focus on your star.
- Instead of just focusing on dunking, try adding sharp three-point shooters and big post players onto your team. That way, if one aspect of your game isn’t clicking, you have a plan B.
- Be patient. If the shot isn’t there, keep passing to find an open man.
- If your opponent’s defense tries to set charges or continues to reach in to grab for the ball, use your speed to blow right by them.
- Avoid full-court press when on defense. If you play too close to your man before they reach half court, you can expect to be blown by for an easy dunk.
- Mix up your defense. Try to alternate between man to man, 3-2, 2-3, and 1-3-1.
These are the main team-building, offensive, and defensive tips. So, go start up a team and see if you can come home with a ring.
