Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Screenshots Reveal Graphical Detail, Hint At Conversations

January 30, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

CD Projekt RED continues to show off REDengine’s capabilities.

We have 3 new screenshots showing off the latest builds for Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt RED released these to commemorate the launch of their new community forums.

Aside from the graphical quality, there’s nothing too exciting here. Just a few pics showing Geralt at behind the shoulder view entering several tableaus. Having said that, the graphical quality on display is amazing. Every time they iterate, it’s clear CD Projekt RED is pushing towards the limits of what’s technically possible with current hardware.

If prior screenshots showed off the fantastic elements that the game is bringing, these newer shots are more steeped in reality. Geralt is seen walking in and ready to intervene in a robbery, surveying the corpses of soldiers, and looking across the pond towards new humans to possibly interact with.

CD Projekt RED is talking up the game’s cinematic interactivity. You will be able to end conversations abruptly, as well as whisper and hand over items to NPCs. Cutscenes are seamlessly integrated into the gameplay, and with the help of camera work and character configurations (allowing you to talk to people while they sit, walk, or ride mounts), conversations will feel natural and real.

Of course, they’re not shy talking about their achievements with REDengine 3 either. Dynamic light and shadow effects, significantly high polygon detail on locations, lead to a visually attractive, filmlike presentation.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming to Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. It will be DRM-Free on GOG.com, but the release date is TBA.
