The DayZ alpha has achieved sales of one million over the first four weeks of the prototype build's release.
Bohemia Interactive CEO Mark ŠpanÄ›l announced the news on his Twitter account:
Thank you! – Four weeks after the release, #DayZ just passed one million sales. http://t.co/kFeszP2oI7

Steam Early Access offers the DayZ alpha for $29.99 which suggests Bohemia has made a significant profit on a game which is effectively unfinished and will no doubt encourage other developers to take the same route to a game's final launch.
DayZ was originally released as a mod for Bohemia's hardcore military sim ArmA 2 by Dean Hall whose work saw the then three year old title jump back into the PC best seller's list and eventually led to Hall joining Bohemia to work on the standalone DayZ release.
200,000 of the DayZ alpha's million sales occured during the first 24 hours after launch and the game hit 875,000 after three weeks. DayZ was released on Steam Early Access on December, 16th.
