Bethesda has announced the release of the standalone client for Quake Live, which allows players to experience the game outside of their web browsers.
The client, which was originally announced in November, provides gamers with a free-to-play experience and offers extended access and features to members with Premium and Pro accounts. Pro subscribers can host matches for standard users on all seven Premium game modes, including Freeze Tag and Domination.
More details can be found in a FAQ here.
The purpose of the standalone client is to replace the browser-based play previously offered by the game.
