Cliff Bleszinski has a Pitch for a PC Arena Shooter

December 12, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

The man behind Gears of War might be making his return with a big, old-school shooter.

Cliff Bleszinski, the man behind such franchise such as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, isn’t spending his post-Epic career disconnected from the game industry. The man has pixels flowing through his veins, and on the Pointless podcast, Bleszinski made it known that he has a pitch for a first-person shooter that calls back to the old days of fast-paced arena shooters.

That doesn’t mean that he’s going to turn around and develop the thing tomorrow. A pitch is pretty different from something actually in production, but after a year away from development, he has "a slide deck" for this new project.

“I have a pitch. I have concept art. I know pretty much what I want to do," he said on the podcast. "It will be a PC experience that will hearken back to a certain type of game that we cut our teeth on."

Why go for another shooter after just recently working on Gears of War? Bleszinski argues that it’s in his DNA.

"A lot of these kids playing Call of Duty, I don't think they know what a proper arena shooter is," he added.

It’d be a big return for one of the most recognizable members of gaming. We’ll have to wait and see what he plans to do in the coming months.
