It’s not easy to simply label a game as “downloadable” and have all the educated consumers in the room know exactly what you’re talking about. Back during the start of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, titles like Braid, Castle Crasher, or Flower might have come to mind, but the fact that most every style and size of game can be downloaded on new hardware has blurred the lines. Microsoft will be taking yet another step at erasing what separates downloadable and retail games, as XBLA Fans has confirmed that all Xbox One games will have up to 1000 Gamerscore to unlock.
Arcade games on the Xbox 360 might have see a limit of 200 or 400 Point that can be achieved, but that just won’t be the case this time around. A list of achievements for Halo: Spartan Assault, published by Xbox360Achievements.org, is one of the first big examples of the switch, as the Xbox One version has all 1000 Gamerscore compared to the Xbox 360 version’s 400.
"On Xbox One games are games. All games follow the same policies for achievements and Gamerscore,” a Microsoft representative confirmed.
Expect games like Peggle 2 and any other piece of software – big or small – to let Xbox One owners gain a healthy sum of Achievements this fall.
