Tetris 99 Offers Crossover With Luigi’s Mansion 3

October 22, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Take on the Maximus Cup starting later this week.

Tetris 99 was a massive hit when it hit the Nintendo Switch Online marketplace. Everyone enjoys a good game of Tetris and while this classic puzzle game has received a few clones and editions for platforms over the years, I don’t think anyone would have guessed Tetris would have made a great battle royale title. But here we are in 2019 with gamers all around the world duking it out to be the last one standing in a massive game of Tetris.

In Tetris 99 players are battling 99 other players as they attempt to be the last person playing. Outside of playing like a standard Tetris game with the blocks progressively getting faster, the game also provides players with options to attack other players. This is done by sending blocks to other targets when you successfully clear a line.

It’s an addicting game and free for those who are Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Now that we’re gearing up to a new Nintendo Switch anticipated launch, Luigi’s Mansion 3, a crossover was announced. Tetris 99 will feature Luigi’s Mansion 3 theme Maximus Cup with the theme being awarded to those that rank up 100 points between the launch of the cup on October 25, 2019, through October 28, 2019.

A spooky #Tetris99 MAXIMUS CUP has appeared! Ring in the release of #LuigisMansion3 next week by participating in this special crossover event. Be sure to earn at least 100 event points to unlock a ghoulish theme! @Tetris_officialhttps://t.co/jrWEmtmcey pic.twitter.com/cVjtvqQ20f

Depending on how skilled you are with the game, you may end up getting the theme unlocked from a single game otherwise you’ll just need to play matches up until you reach 100 points total. At the very worst, you’ll just need to play a hundred matches as ranking under 91 will get you a single point.
