Hinterland Studio’s campaign for their game The Long Dark successfully ended this morning as they raised CA$256,217 from 6,966 backers. They surpassed their goal of CA$200,000 with CA$56,217 extra funds. The Long Dark is a first-person post disaster survival simulation.
It is also notable for featuring prominent voice actors like Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale, the voices behind the male and female versions of Mass Effect’s Commander Shepard. Elias Toufexis, the voice of Adam Jensen from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, is also a part of the cast. David Hayter or the former Snake from Metal Gear Solid recently joined the cast as well.
According to their Kickstarter page, the extra funds will be applied towards a graphic novel and an extended soundtrack. Even if the Kickstarter campaign is over, crowdfunding will continue via PayPal on the game’s website. Future extra funds will be used towards adding translations into a variety of languages.
The Long Dark is in development for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. The target release is October 2014.
