Do you recall Monster Farm, better known as Monster Rancher outside of Japan? The video game was an original PlayStation release and it continued to see installments launch into the market for other platforms such as the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. However, it’s been a while since we have seen the franchise make a resurgence but that may soon change. Possibly looking to recapture some of the nostalgia of past players or newcomers a chance at playing this franchise, Koei Tecmo is making a new installment to the franchise in Japan.
From what we gather this is simply called Monster Farm and it will be launching sometime this year digitally in Japan. Those of you who are not aware of the game franchise, this title involves collecting monsters to battle much like Pokemon. However, there were some differences such as breeding monsters to create even stronger creatures.
Not too many details are known yet about this upcoming Monster Farm release so it’s uncertain if this game will launch outside of Japan. Furthermore, it will be interesting to see if this is a complete remake of the first game or if they are using the franchise as a whole to create something unique. At any rate, we’re going to keep our eyes out as this Monster Rancher series does contain a cult following. With this new installment, we could see interest pick up for the series and spark another series of Monster Rancher video games.
