Surprise Announcement for Sega’s ‘Yakuza’ Series Happening Next Week

August 9, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

Sega has a surprise planned for fans of Yakuza.

Japanese sources have informed Gematsu that Sega is intending to make an announcement relating to the Yakuza series on August 18, at 5:00PM Tokyo time.

The announcement will come during an event in which Sega plans to reveal the results of a character poll.

There's no indication of what the announcement may be, except that it'll be related to the Yakuza series, which has thus far been exclusive to the Sony PlayStation 3 in its most recent generation.

The latest game in the series, Yakuza 5, has been out in Japan since last December, but has yet to make landfall internationally or localized into English. It's unknown whether the game will ever make it over to the West, but historically, it has taken a long time for titles in the series to be localized.
