Bungie says that despite the massive investment going into the creation of AAA title Destiny they're still willing to take risks and push boundaries.
In the latest Mail Sack feature on the company's website Bungie addressed a fan question asking if they could still be truly innovative.
"You make us sound like an old, Favourite Uncle who can barely touch his toes anymore. Bungie is young and spry-barely into our twenties," a studio staffer wrote. "We still have risks to take. Anyone who spends more time thinking about how things could be than how things are can innovate.
"Anyone who throws out their old way of doing things can innovate," the studio continued. "Anyone who thinks they can float above the high watermark can innovate. Anyone with a refrigerator filled with energy drinks can innvoate."
Bungie added that the "massive infusion of new blood" recently added to the company is helping to allow them to try new things.
"Nothing makes an old dog learn new tricks faster than an eager puppy who tries to claim the ball," they concluded.
Danny Bulla, Red Dead Redemption's senior game designer, is among those who have recently been added to Bungie and is working on Destiny's sandbox elements.
Destiny is due for release in 2014 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
