"How do we use this new tech to change the status quo of driving games?" That's the question Julian Gerighty, the Creative Director at Ubisoft, said developers behind The Crew asked in order to create a next-generation title.
The result is this new driving game, which was announced today at the Ubisoft press conference at E3.
Gerighty stated in the briefing that The Crew will be so much more than a typical genre title. The game takes into account next-generation specs and capabilities and builds "more variety in the video game world." It will have levels spanning across different terrain across America.
The goal of the game is to take over a criminal organization one city at a time, according to Gerighty.
The gameplay is also supposed to be customizable to the player's specific style and allows them to strip down the car to its bare parts.
Sharing and competing with friends is essential to the experience. The game is an online-persistent world. You can still play solo, but you can create a "crew" with friends and each of you takes on a different role.
There is no specific release date, but the game will be released in early 2014.
