The Guinness Book of World Records, curators of some of the world's most fascinating statistics, have declared the Kinect to be the world's fastest selling electronic device.
In a statement published today by the organization, the Kinect was found to be a faster seller than even the iPhone and the iPad, proving what the sheer popularity of videogames can accomplish nowadays.
Breaking all previous sales records, the Kinect sold through an average of 133,333 units per day, for a total of 8 million units within the first 60 days, from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011.
Sounding more like a businessman and less like an enthusiast, Gaz Deaves, Editor of the Guinness Book of World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition (yes, this actually exists) called the figures an "incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector."
The new record will be added in the next volume of the book.
