When Rockstar Games released their latest batch of screenshots for Grand Theft Auto 5, fans speculate that the apparently high quality of the screenshots indicated that they belonged to the next generation of consoles and not the current gen—the PS3 and Xbox 360.
As the developers at Rockstar Games has repeatedly said that the upcoming title is only planned for the current gen, the screenshots threw those statements into doubt and many within the gaming community assumed that Rockstar was preparing to make an announcement about a next-gen announcement confirming the game's release on the PS4 and its Microsoft counterpart.
Today, Rockstar posted a brief, but succinct statement to clarify once again that the screenshots they released belonged to the current gen.
"To @icharyd and others who are asking, these screens are from the current generation of consoles," wrote a Rockstar employee in the comments below the screenshots.
R* doesn't appreciate threats from its fans, either, as the following image shows.
Whether they have any plans to bring the game to the PC and the next-gen consoles is still up in the air as Rockstar has neither confirmed nor denied whether they would do so, but for the time being, we can be assured that the current gen are the only set of consoles to get the upcoming game.
