SimCity and Diablo 3 aren't the only high profile titles to require an always-online connection as a core aspect. Bungie, best known for their Halo series of games, says that its upcoming title Destiny will require a persistent online connection.
Much like the aforementioned games before it, Destiny will be an exclusively online experience with most, if not all of its modes centered on cooperative and competitive online play. The game has been described as a "shared-world shooter".
Quizzed today by a fan about whether they are rethinking their decision to make Destiny an online game, the studio responded that they have no plans to change their minds. Bungie says that they are not terribly concerned by the load its players will put on the servers upon the game's launch.
"This isn’t our first rodeo," wrote Bungie. "Bungie is no stranger to anxious mobs of players who rush home after a midnight launch and put our best-laid plans to the test. Since a release date hasn’t even been announced yet, we’ll let our team focus on some less frightening but equally important challenges."
The studio also took the time to answer other questions about the game.
