No HDR Support For PC Version of Assassins Creed: Origins

November 6, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

It’s only coming to console versions of the game.

Hoping to make use of your TVs HDR functionality with your PC Rig when playing the latest Assassins Creed? Then we’ve got some bad news for you: Ubisoft won’t be patching open-world adventure, Assassins Creed Origins with HDR support.

Previously the publisher and game development studio stated via their blog that there would be a patch for all platforms as noted, here.

‘There will be another Title Update available in early November, which will most notably include 4K and Dolby Atmos support for Xbox One X and support of HDR displays for all platforms.’

Now Ubisoft has altered the copy, stating that HDR support would only be coming to console platforms.

‘There will be another Title Update available in early November, which will most notably include 4K and Dolby Atmos support for Xbox One X and additional support for HDR on Xbox One S/Xbox One X and PS4/PS4 Pro.’

It’s kind of a pity that Ubisoft stated that they would be supporting HDR, and then backtracked on their statement by editing the blog and giving no warning of the change. Well yes, it is the infamous Ubisoft we are talking about, a heads up on the alteration would’ve been nice. That being said. HDR isn’t that necessary for the PC version of the game as most monitors don’t actually support it, but having the option is never a bad thing.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
