The Evil Within was a successful survival horror title from development studio, Tango Gameworks. Developed under director Shinji Mikami, the mastermind behind some of the early Resident Evil titles, fans of horrifying narrative and gameplay was in for a treat with his latest creation.
Now that the sequel is slated to launch in just a few short weeks, The Evil Within 2 may find a yet another platform to release on. Currently, the video game is set for a launch on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. However, Shinji Mikami, who took a producer spot for the creation of The Evil Within sequel, has stated an interest in bringing the survival horror title on the Nintendo Switch.
Survival horror titles, along with third-party development titles in general, was a bit of a miss for Nintendo’s past console release, the Wii U. Now with their latest hybrid console available today, the Nintendo Switch, there is plenty of third-party video games seeking a launch release on the beloved system.
For instance, Bethesda Softworks, who is publishing The Evil Within 2, has already confirmed that Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are currently being ported over onto the Nintendo Switch console.
Now with the GameSpot interview with Shinji Mikami and his interest in bringing over The Evil Within 2 on the Nintendo Switch, this could be more than wishful thinking. Regardless, there has been no confirmation of a Nintendo Switch port being worked on at the moment.
For those interested in picking The Evil Within 2 up then they’ll have to wait until October 13, 2017, where the game will launch on the mentioned platforms above, PC, PS4, and lastly, the Xbox One.
