In an attempt to end the surge of toxicity in the Overwatch community, Blizzard has decided to introduce permanent bans to the competitive playlist.
Those who earn seasonal bans will find that three bans will make them eligible for a permanent Competitive Play ban. Basically, you’ll never be to play in a Competitive match ever again.
It’s a three strike system, one ban means that your first strike is up. And this carries through throughout seasons, earning a ban in the first season, then another in the second season and a third in season four will still qualify players for a permanent ban.
That being said, players will still be able to hop into quickplay playlists, but if they continue being toxic they’ll also receive bans there.
This is the second implementation of Blizzard’s plan to combat toxic players. Earlier the studio announced a new feature (currently on Xbox One) which mutes toxic player’s audio.
Toxic Player? Blizzard has just introduced a new feature in it’s FPS team-based title, Overwatch, which basically mutes your in-game audio when playing matches. These players who have bad reputations on Xbox Live, will be designated with an “Avoid Me,” badge. They’ll still participate in the same matchmaking queue, they just won’t be able to harass any other players through audio.
