Toxic Player? Blizzard has just introduced a new feature in it’s FPS team-based title, Overwatch, which basically mutes your in-game audio when playing matches. These players who have bad reputations on Xbox Live, will be designated with an “Avoid Me,” badge. They’ll still participate in the same matchmaking queue, they just won’t be able to harass any other players through audio.
“Players whose Xbox Live reputation has been downgraded to ‘Avoid Me’ will remain in the same matchmaking pool as other Overwatch players,” Blizzard said. “However, they will no longer be able to use the in-game voice communication.”
The introduction of the feature has been a response to the rise of toxicity in the Overwatch community. It’s been so severe that Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan himself said, that Blizzard’s development on the game has been slowed so the studio can respond to the issues.
The feature hasn’t been introduced on PS4 as of yet, but players should be able to expect it sometime soon.
