‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Trailer Shows A Cyborg On A Rampage

January 10, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

The first trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 shows the Psycho Squad as they attempt to subdue an out of control cyborg.

CD Projekt RED studio has made good on their promise to release the first ever trailer for Cyberpunk 2077. Designed entirely in CG, the trailer showcases a piece of their upcoming role-playing game.

The trailer shows a woman gong on a rampage due to the amount of cybernetic modifications in her body, as the Night City police squad attempt to subdue her with the aid of an elite police squad known as the Psycho Squad.

We've been told that the trailer shows how the Psycho Squad might acquire a new member to join their taskforce. These men and women specialize in combating "psychos", folks who overuse implants and substances that otherwise alter or enhance their body. As their biological functions start to deteriorate, the machines take over and lash out against organic things around them.

"When a psycho goes on the rampage, strange things can happen. There’s going to be a lot of carnage, so the psycho might be taken down by regular police, but they’re not always able to get the job done. When things spin out of control, they call in MAX-TAC (Maximum Force Tactical Division), popularly called the 'Psycho Squad'. And these guys are exceptional, these guys are crack troops," says Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED.

The fact that they’re proud of that name tells you a bit about their mindset. They wear a badge with their official emblem on their right sleeve, but their left is reserved for their unofficial Psycho Squad emblem. It’s primitively made and the image itself is on the crude side of things. It’s not unlike a badge special force operators might make and wear to distinguish themselves from the ranks of grunts in any theatre of war."

The game's creators promise that the upcoming game will remain true to the cyberpunk genre.
