Blizzard’s remaster of the 1998 strategy title StarCraft, has just launched on PC, purchase it here for$14.99/£12.99/AU$21.95.
Along with HD graphics, improved textures and 4K capabilities, StarCraft remastered includes both the base game and the Brood War expansion. The title will also feature improved functionality such as matchmaking and leaderboards, Cloud save functionality and cross-multiplayer support with the original versions of the game. The game’s sound effects and soundtrack have also been improved.
We’ve remastered our units, buildings, and environments, improved game audio, and broadened our supported resolutions. Illustrated interludes bring the struggles and victories of heroes like Artanis, Fenix, Tassadar, Raynor and Kerrigan to life like never before. Most importantly, the strategy gameplay that StarCraft perfected years ago remains unchanged.
“While these improvements will bring StarCraft to the modern era, gameplay and balance have been precisely preserved, for an experience that will feel identical to veteran players,” Blizzard said.
Arguably one of the most important games in e-sports, StarCraft is just one of those titles that have deserved a re-look considering just how many people still play this iconic title and just how old it is. Let’s hope Blizzard green lights a WarCraft remaster sometime soon!
