ZombiU Producer Taken Aback By Early US Reviews

December 14, 2012 by Matt Hawkins

Thankfully, the more positive reviews later on managed to cheer him up.

ZombiU has been, arguably, the most high profile third party release for the Wii U. Mostly because many flat out love the game because it's a zombie game that dared to be different.

But it's precisely because of this that the initial reaction was quite wide and diverse. When speaking with Nintendo Life, producer Guillaume Brunier states:

"We were really disappointed with the early US reviews. We are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the experience we created but we did not expect so harsh a feedback. However as more and more journalists and gamers played the game, these opinions proved to be a minority. So right now we’re rather pleased with the overall reception of the game."

And when Brunier was asked about how some were frustrated by the survival horror aspects taking precedent over first person shooting elements, his only response was, "we never hid ourselves".
