Popcap, purveyor of PC and mobile hits like Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled, Zuma and others, may be making the switch to AAA titles. A recent job posting at EA seeking a software engineer indicates they're making the switch to the big boy games, asking the candidate have experience on consoles like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3:
"The PopCap studio is looking for an experienced generalist SE to build a AAA console title. This generalist will work on a broad range of game systems including, but not limited to: animation, audio, resource management, pipelines and visual effects. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with the Frostbite 2 engine."
The Frostbite 2 engine debuted last year with Battlefield 3, indicating that PopCap is planning something on a much larger scope than just Plants vs. Zombies 3. My guess? BEJEWELED 4: THE MMO. No, I actually have no idea. It'll be interesting to see what PopCap pulls off with EA money behind them.
