If you were among the many disappointed by the meager graphics options available on the PC version of Crysis 2, well, consider this Crytek's redemption. Crysis 3 is set to feature a healthy batch of new visual settings, all available from the first day of release (none of this waiting-for-a-patch funny business of the past). These will include:
- Game Effects
- Object
- Particles
- Post Processing
- Shading
- Shadows
- Water
- Anisotropic Filtering
- Texture Resolution
- Motion Blur Amount
- Lens Flares
Crysis 3 tech director Marco Corbetta has also detailed a number of areas that have been polished since the sequel, including improved "AI navigation system, animation system, water, fog volumes, cloud shadows, POM, AA, cloths, vegetation, particles, lens flares and grass". The grass tech is said to be able to render thousands of individual blades and is cost and memory efficient enough to produce effects (including wind, projectiles, and explosions) even on the aging Xbox 360 and PS3. HIgh resolution textures will also be available at launch.
Also revealed recently were the system requirements for the PC version of Crysis 3, which will fully utilize DirectX 11. The game launches this upcoming February, giving you a few months yet to get your rig all up to speed.
