Project Cars 2 Will Be Native 4K On Xbox One X; No Promises For PS4 Pro

“We are not ready to define the exact resolution on PlayStation 4 Pro yet.”

With Project Cars 2′ launch right around the corner, and the being in the era of 4K gaming, fans have been wondering what the technical output of the title will be.

Stephen Viljoen, the game director on duty at Slightly Mad Studios recently confirmed that Xbox One X players will definitely experience project cars 2 in 4K 60FPS, PS4 Pro on the other hand, may not get the same treatment.

“Yes, Project CARS 2 will run 4K / 60 natively on Xbox One X. […] We are not ready to define the exact resolution on PlayStation 4 Pro yet.”

Project CARS 2 will appear on September 22 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam too. Slightly earlier than Forza Motorsport 7.

Wondering about a Switch release? Here’s what the creative director had to say about bringing the game to Nintendo.

“I think the Wii U thing is very similar to the PSVR thing, and that’s why I don’t want to get people’s hopes as much. With the Wii U version, the actual machine was brilliant, I play on it with my kids all the time, but technically, getting the game to a state where it matches our standards was extremely challenging.

In the end it was something we weren’t happy with, releasing a version that was substandard to what the eventual title ending up being, which was critically acclaimed (it did extremely well), and it may not have been if we pursued the Wii U version further, so we decided to ultimately stop production on that.

In terms of Nintendo Switch, I can say probably that Project CARS franchise will not be coming to Nintendo Switch currently.”

The above statement was, unfortunately, a misquote, Project Cars 2 is running sub 60 FPS at 4K.
