Sony CEO Teases Big Japanese Game Announcements at E3; Press Conference Will Be a Software Showcase

June 5, 2017 by Jordan Biazzo

Bloodborne 2 confirmed?

Sony’s own Shawn Layden was recently in a Time interview, where he teased “some big announcements” from their Japanese developers at this year’s E3.

Layden says in the interview that both Japanese publishers developers are coming back to the console in a major way. If you just look at the list of PS4 exclusives this year it shows – Gravity Rush 2, NiOh, and Persona 5. However, it seems that even more is coming from Japan.

“That’s super important for us,” Layden said. “I think a lot of Japanese developers lost their way chasing the mobile games yen, if you will, but they’re coming back to console in a major way. And speaking of, we’ll have some big announcements at E3 in that precise vein.”

Layden then goes on to say that Sony’s 2017 press conference will follow the same setup as last year’s; it will be more of a software showcase than an actual press conference.

“The crowd will only have to suffer I think in aggregate 90 seconds of me,” he joked. “And in the middle will be all the games.”

PlayStation’s main E3 2017 press conference will happen on Monday, June 12, at 5:00 PM Pacific Time, however, the fun won’t stop there. Check out the full detailed itinerary down below:
