Horizon Lunar Colony Map Announced for Overwatch; Takes Players to the Moon, Watch New Trailer Here

May 31, 2017 Jordan Biazzo

Expect the map to launch soon.

Blizzard has officially announced that a new map is coming to their shooter phenomenon, Overwatch. The map is going to be placed on the moon, in fact, it is the place where Winston comes from.

There are no details on when the map will be released, but Blizzard did mention it would be releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC soon. In addition, a new trailer for the map has debuted alongside an official description of the Horizon Lunar Colony map.

Watch the full trailer down below:

Official Trailer Description:

Horizon Lunar Colony is an Assault map set in a scientific base on the moon. Built as a first step towards humanity’s renewed exploration of space, the colony’s goal was to examine the effects of prolonged extraterrestrial habitation—on human and ape alike. The scientists’ research proved incredibly promising…until, suddenly, all contact and communications with the base were lost.

Now, many years later, attacking and defending teams must return to the moon and battle for control of the colony’s facilities, all while they discover clues as to the fate of its previous inhabitants.

Earlier today we reported on a rumor that is pointing at a new character reveal sometime soon. There are no confirmed details about the upcoming character but all teases point to Hammond, another genetically modified Gorilla.

At the moment, Orisa is the latest Overwatch hero, a tank and “central anchor of her team”: her character went live at the end of March. We are not sure if Blizzard would release another Gorilla hero to the game, but stick with Gameranx as we will be keeping a close eye on everything Overwatch.
