So what happens to the president of a company when it gets bought out by a much bigger one? Apparently they beg off for their old job back. OK, that isn’t fair, but it is a little strange that Paul Meegan, ex-president of LucasArts just left his job in August, after the reveal of Star Wars 1313 (and possibly knew about the impending deal with Disney) only to end up back at his old job.
Back in 2010 Meegan left Epic China and joined LucasArts and now he’s back with the company as Vice President of Product Development. Seems like a step down but Meegan claims he’s happy with it.
“I’m really happy to be back in the Epic family and working with some of the best developers in the industry,” he said. “The company is stepping up its game across the board, and I’m honored to be a part of that process.”
Meegan’s been in the games business for some time, having founded Sinister Games in 1997. Sinister Games was later acquired by Ubisoft. Meegan was with Ubisoft Montreal and worked on popular games like Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Rainbow 6 before he worked at Epic. So he’s definitely got the experience and will likely only be an asset to Epic.
