Capcom hasn't released a major entry in its Mega Man franchise for quite some time now but things are about to change. In an interview with Nintendo Power (via fansite Rockman Corner), Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson said that there will be more Mega Man games to look forward to in the future both for consoles and handheld devices.
I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years. That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details.
Based on Svensson's statement, I gather can expect an announcement from Capcom regarding Mega Man on the franchise's 25th anniversary, no? Hopefully, it won't just be a compilation slated for PSN or Xbox LIVE and will be full-fledged entries in the Mega Man series.
If Capcom was to announce a new Mega Man game, would you want it to be part of the core Mega Man games or a sequel in its long-running "Mega Man X" series?
