Cliff Bleszinski, otherwise known as Cliffy B, is best know as the creator of the Unreal franchise, which in turn led to the Unreal Engine, which powers many games of today, plus Gears of War, Bulletstorm, Shadow Complex, and many others.
He's also a free agent, as Destructoid describes him, at the moment. A game designer without a studio, one who is clearly eager to find new projects, new challenges to get the blood boiling.
And Bleszinski has recently disclosed his first target: Resident Evil. In a recent tweet, Cliffy made it loud and clear for all to see. Especially Capcom: "Hey, Capcom. Call me. We can fix Resident Evil. Together. :-)"
It's no secret that Resident Evil 6 has been a huge misfire among critics and fans of the franchise alike (though the latter did rack plenty of sales, regardless). It is the opinion that Resident Evil is broken and need to be fix. Is Bleszinski the one to do it?
The ironic thing here is that, part of the problem with RE6 is that it shrugged off its roots and aimed to be more Western. And to a large degree, it plays a lot like Gear of War, which once again, is a creation of Bleszinski. Far too much so for many people’s tastes.
Though one gets the sense that Bleszinski is aware of this, and maybe wants to help a problem that he inadvertently helped to create, and may in fact be the only person qualified to fix?
