GameStop is opening a new line of concept stores called GameStop Kids. The first store opens today in Grapevine Texas, where GameStop is headquartered. Being prudent business people, they plan to open a total of 80 stores this holiday season all across the United States.
Basically, GameStop Kids will sell toys based off of family friendly games and well known franchises. Skylanders, Lego, Angry Birds, Star Wars and even Minecraft will have offerings in the stores. But there will also be non-gaming items like toys and collectibles… basically like a KB Toys or Toys-R-Us. Seems a little redundant in fact.
We'll see how it goes, but in the meantime you can check out a full list of stores at the GameStop Kids website. Chances are there will be one opening up next to you if all goes as planned. It's unknown if there will be any outside of the U.S. at this time.
What do you think of the idea?
