Mewgenics: Collarless Unlocks and What They Do

So many abilities and ways to play!

Mewgenics is a rogue-like RPG with turn-based mechanics focusing on breeding cats continuously to send them on the hunt for food out into the world, starting with the good ol’ fictional town of Boon County and moving onto the rest of the world ! Your cats are able to gain a variety of mutations, or curses that can be bred possibly onto the next generation, and repeat! Along with these mutations, cats can also encounter afflictions, negative effects cats gain while adventuring out into the world. 

When getting ready to head out into the world, you have the option to give your adorable monstrosity a collar, assigning them a class. We’ve covered more on classes here. On the other hand, you are also able to not give your cat a collar. These cats are collarless. These cats have no modifiers to positively or negatively affect your cat during combat and while exploring areas in the game.

Exploring the world like this can be seen as a bad move. A cat without some sort of stat increase is weaker, and less likely to make it to the end of a chapter. But there are some rewards for playing this way! Unlocks. What are these?

What Are the Collarless Unlocks in Mewgenics?

The abilities and items listed below are unlocked by playing the included area with a collarless cat from your home. 

  • Metronome – Complete The Caves 

Cast a random spell.

Metronome+

Cast a random upgraded spell.

Mana Cost: 5

  • Skill Share – Complete The Boneyard

Your other passive ability is shared with the other cats in your party at the start of each battle.

Skill Share+

Your other passive ability is shared with the other cats in your party at the start of each battle. When breeding, your children will always inherit your other passive.

  • Path Of The Void – Complete The Core

Conjure a random Collarless spell into your bonus spell slot.

Path of the Void+

Conjure a random upgraded Collarless spell into your bonus spell slot.

Mana Cost: 1

  • Void Soul – Complete The Moon

Only upgraded Collarless abilities are offered when you level up

Void Soul+

Only upgraded Collarless abilities are offered when you level up. Collarless spells cost 1 less mana.

  • Lil’ Kitty – Complete The Jurassic

Item: Spawn a Flea familiar.

Slot: Weapon

  • Ball of Yarn – Complete The End

Item: Spawn a Charmed Kitten with All Stats Up 2 at the start of each battle.

Slot: Trinket

  • Normal Ears – Defeat The King

Item: +1 Strength , +1 Dexterity , +1 Constitution , +1 Intelligence , +1 Speed , +1 Charisma , +1 Luck .

Slot: Head

  • Ordinary Whiskers – Complete The Rift

Item: +1 Strength , +1 Dexterity , +1 Constitution , +1 Intelligence , +1 Speed , +1 Charisma , +1 Luck .

Slot: Face

  • Mundane Collar – Complete The Infinite

Item: +1 Strength , +1 Dexterity , +1 Constitution , +1 Intelligence , +1 Speed , +1 Charisma , +1 Luck .

Slot: Neck

  • Skill Split – Complete all areas 

Item: Gain a temporary copy of your first passive ability at the start of each battle.

Slot: Trinket

Having a reason to play without a collar brings a new level of challenge to gamers! However players do recommend NOT playing collarless at first when going into a new area/chapter.
