How to Watch Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at Home With Streaming

Sonic the Hedgehog has been a hit gaming series since it first debuted in 1991, but the character’s silver screen appearances have catapulted the blue blur into previously unseen levels of popularity. So far, the second film in the series, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has already grossed $71 million following its first weekend and is on track to do a lot more.

Not everyone feels comfortable going to theaters, however, especially as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic so questions about other watch options have been floating around many fans’ heads. After all, plenty of other films have done simultaneous theater and streaming releases since the start of the pandemic, so it’s not totally out of the question that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 would do the same.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Streaming Options

Currently, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is only available in theaters, however, it has been confirmed to be coming to streaming services after its release. Paramount Plus is set to host the movie starting on May 23, 2022, 45 days after its U.S. theatrical debut.

While that might not be entirely convenient for anyone looking to watch the film at home, that’s still a relatively quick turnaround for such a big movie. As stated above, plenty of films have adopted similar release strategies as they’re conscious of the pandemic. Luckily for those waiting to watch Sonic 2 at home, the first movie in the series, Sonic the Hedgehog, is available for streaming on Paramount Plus for all subscribers.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is confirmed to be in production which fans can likely expect to hear more about in the coming months as Sonic 2‘s cast and crew break down the movie’s post-credits scene in interviews. Obviously only time will tell what’s in store for the third movie, but fans seem to be excited.
