10 Best Secret Endings Of 2019

December 30, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Discover the best secret endings of 2019 with these top 10 picks.

NERO’s Big Secret (Days Gone)

The extended ‘ending’ is really more of a bonus tease, but it changes everything about the story, and implies a very strange sequel might be coming in the future. Normally in Days Gone, your biker protagonist rescues his girlfriend from the clutches of a massive militia and rides into the sunset with his pals. But, if you continue to track down the whereabouts of NERO — a mysterious government organization studying the zombie plague — you’ll get one hell of an ending stinger.

Your NERO contact removes his mask, revealing that he’s infected. He isn’t just infected, but he’s intelligent — and super-strong. He leaps from the ground to the helicopter. Is NERO ruled by intelligent, super-evolved zombies? Are intelligent undead the next big enemy of Days Gone 2? It’s pretty insane, and I’m curious to see what happens next.

Learn more about this bonus ending here.

An Encounter With An Alien (Outer Wilds)

Another additional ending is dependent on completing one of the most important side-quests in the open-world puzzle game The Outer Wilds. In your quest to stop the destuction of the galaxy as the sun goes supernova, you’ll be able to contact a living member of an ancient alien race. The only alien you can actually talk to, and they’re hidden on the Quantum Moon — a special moon that is everywhere (and nowhere) in the universe.

To unlock the alien’s hidden location on the Quantum Moon, you’ll need to solve multiple mysteries. You’ll have to learn how quantum phenomena work — basically, when you observe a quantum object, it remains in that location. If you don’t observe it, it can be in any other location. Observation is key, and the key to finding this alien friend? Well, you have to close your eyes while on the Quantum Moon itself, turn off your flashlight, and you’ll appear somewhere new entirely.

Our 2019 countdown continues — check out even more awesome secret endings on the next page.
