Captain Shark (12F The Spectral Catch)
Encountered on 12F, Captain Shark is the toughest boss so far. He’ll start by merging with his ship, creating a giant wooden face that moves across the deck and tries to swallow Luigi whole. Dodge grab the bomb barrels that his lackeys throw. Wait for the boss to open his mouth, then throw a bomb in.
After three hits, the boss will appear in his ghost form. Dodge his attacks until he slams his hook into the deck, getting stuck. With only one eye facing you, hit that eye with the Strobulb to stun him. The next round is similar to the first — just keep doding those barrels and throwing them into the shark’s mouth.
The third round is trickier. The shark possesses the side of the ship and tries to roll until Luigi falls into his mouth. Quickly shoot a Suction Shot onto the target board and Suction on to avoid taking damage. After that, four ghosts will throw a deluge of bomb barrels at you. Catch them and roll the barrels back into the boss’ mouth. For the final ghost form, swap to Gooigi when the shark bites you and flash him to rapidly escape.
The Volleyball Player (13F Fitness Center)
This waterbound bully hangs out at the Fitness Center Pool. Before you can damage him, you’ll need to stun him — use the volleyballs floating in the pool and launch them at him. While he’s stunned, rush through the metal barrier with Gooigi to reach the back of the pool.
Why? Because Gooigi needs to turn the wheel that drains the pool. But, the boss will spray water if he spots Gooigi. Move to each hiding spot between stuns, and wait behind the pillar before attempting to turn the wheel. You’ll need an entire stun period to turn it!
After the pool has been drained, use the ladder to climb down. The boss is protected from the Strobulb, so you need to remove his goggles. Throw another volleyball, and while he’s stunned, use Suction to pull the goggles off. Now you can capture him the old-fashioned way.
The DJ (14F The Dance Hall)
On the dance floor, you’ll have to contend with two phases of the fight. First, the DJ summons a ghostly dance troupe. Use Slam to reveal which one has the elevator button, then Strobulb them and suck them up! If you’re not quick, they’ll pass the button to a different ghost.
When the DJ drops in to fight, you’ll need to dodge her burning LPs. Use Slam when she stops and throws records to make her wig pop off, giving you a chance to Strobulb her.
Hellen Gravely (15F Master Suite)
Found in the Master Suite, Hellen Gravely is the Hotel Owner, and she’s one tough boss fight. Before the battle begins, be aware of the light switches on the walls — use the Strobulb to flash the glowing green spots to spawn a heart. It’s very, very useful here!
For this fight, you’ll have to dodge the laser beams Hellen summons. When it’s a single laser, you can time your Slam to bounce right over it. Otherwise, run away!
The tough part is when she creates four laser walls that slowly rotate while she attacks. To actually damage her, you have to lure her into attempting a heavy attack with her mirror. While the mirror is stuck in the ground, use the Strobulb to stun her.
But, you won’t be able to hold on because of all the laser walls. Before stunning her, you need to disable some (or all) of the laser walls. Use Gooigi to navigate around the walls by entering the green pipes, then going under the floor to access the differet power switches. Some switches require a Suction Shot, while others can be flipped like normal.
The difficult part is that you have to mange Luigi and Gooigi at the same time! Swap between the two, especially when Helen Gravely attempts to attack Luigi. Use a Slam to scare her away, then use Gooigi to pull the plugs.
