Dead Or Alive 6: The Fastest Way To Earn Costumes | 900+ Pattern Points Guide

March 4, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

If you’re playing Dead Or Alive 6, you’re probably struggling with the (very low) amount of pattern points you’re earning. Here’s the fastest way to unlock costumes available right now.

Part of the fun of the Dead Or Alive series is how many costumes there are to unlock for your favorite fighters. There are tons of free costumes you can earn in Dead Or Alive 6 — but you’ll have to grind a very long time to unlock them all. Right now, an event is going on until March 14th that gives you x100 Pattern Points. Make sure you’re playing online, and have a fully updated / restarted system to get the full amount of points.

You can earn 900+ points per arcade completion until the 14th. That will unlock many of the costumes instantly, and all of the costumes can be unlocked with just two completions. You’ll still earn points for a totally random costume, and you’ll still need to spend in-game coin currency to fully unlock the outfits, but this is easily the fastest method to stack up your points. Unfortunately, it also appears this is a PS4-only promotion for now.

  • NOTE: PC Players should also get this boost soon. It isn’t available currently, but be on the lookout.

[UPDATE: You can also use a simple exploit to earn tons of points. Play DOAQuest, and when you reach the point screen, you’ll be awarded your points. From that menu, turn off the game and restart. You’ll be able to replay the same mission and earn the points again. Do this for the simple early missions.]

Earning costumes is kind of complicated in DOA6. Instead of simply unlocking costumes, you’ll need to collect “Pattern Points” — you get Pattern Points when you complete challenges like Time Attack and Arcade, or by completing quests in DOA Quest.

The pattern points you earn are totally random, and each costume has a set amount of pattern points you need to earn before you can purchase the costume with in-game coins. At least you’ll earn plenty of coins.

To get the most amount of points possible in a single Arcade run, you’ll want to complete the following:

  • For maximum Pattern Points…
    • Play Arcade on Legendary Difficulty
    • No Continues (Don’t Lose!)
    • You’ll earn 914 pattern points.
  • Arcade on Hard Difficulty will earn you 592+ Pattern Points, so still very good.
  • Really, any difficulty is worth repeating. Play both Arcade / Time Attack and earn the #1 spot on Normal, Hard, Master, etc difficulties.

Currently, there is a special release event going on where players will earn x100 Pattern Points. I recommend getting in as much grinding as possible before March 14th.

Legendary difficulty isn’t nearly as difficult as previous games. For experienced players, it isn’t bad at all — learn proper blocking and play efficiently with your favorite character, and you’ll be able to grind out Legendary difficulty wins in Arcade mode. It’s an extremely fast way to earn valuable Pattern Points.
