The mysteries of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey run deep, and one of the coolest challenges awaits if you’re willing to dig deep into the Greek mythology at the heart of the game. By completing specific side-quests, you’ll be able to encounter the incredible Sphynx. Rather than fight the beast, it will challenge you to a game of riddles — you’ll have to answer three riddles, and memorize your answers. If you fail to answer correctly, you’ll be one dead Spartan.
Each sequence of riddles is totally random, so if you want to survive, or if you’re just really bad at riddles, we’ve got all the possible solutions listed below. All Sphynx Riddle Solutions | Puzzle Guide
To earn the “Riddle Me This” trophy / achievement, you’ll need to first find Atlantis. This can be done after reaching Sequence 7. Past Sequence 7, you’ll need to complete the following side-quests:
- A Family’s Legacy (Thera Quest)
- Lore of the Sphynx (Boeotia Region Quest)
- Awaken the Myth (Boeotia Region Quest)
‘A Family’s Legacy’ will take you to Atlantis, where you’ll unlock the ‘Lore of the Sphynx’ quest. From here, you’ll be able to reach the four mythological boss monsters. Unlike the rest, to defeat the Sphynx, you must answer questions.
If you answer the randomly-generated series of questions incorrectly, the Sphynx will kill you instantly. When you try again, the questions will be different. There are a total of 12 questions in the riddle pool.
Here’s a list of possible answers:

- HUMMINGBIRD
- TIME
- MOON
- SUN
- FISH
- MOUNTAIN
- DEATH
- SPIDER
- RIVER
- MEMORY
- TREE
Remember the answers to each riddle you’ve correctly answered. After answering all three questions, you’ll need to press buttons around the arena that correspond with each particular answer. There are three, so don’t forget what answers you’ve picked! The symbol will resemble the answers — an image of a fish, the sun, or a mountain, for example. Hit all three to complete the Sphynx challenge.
