Top Upcoming Xbox One Games in 2019

Jun 19, 2019 Dennis Patrick

The best upcoming Xbox One games of 2019.

Kingdom Hearts III
  • Developer: Square Enix
  • Publisher: Square Enix
  • Platforms: PS4, XBO
  • Release: January 29, 2019

For years now we’ve waited for the next main installment to the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Now the wait is coming towards an end with Kingdom Hearts III slated to release into the market within January of 2019. Much like the past installments, Sora and his friends will seek out to stop evil by visiting across various Disney themed worlds. Because we’ve been waiting a number of years for the third installment release, there are several new characters and Disney worlds added into the mix.

Resident Evil 2
  • Developer: Capcom
  • Publisher: Capcom
  • Platforms: PC, XBO, PS4
  • Release: January 25, 2019

Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise was one of a few video game series that helped paved the road for the survival horror genre. Resident Evil was iconic and much beloved, resulting in remakes and overhauls for releases on later generation consoles.

Resident Evil 2 was announced by Capcom to be in-development for a remake. We waited for a couple years before Capcom unveiled the remake announcement trailer and gameplay footage. Outside of the fantastic visuals in comparison to its original release, there seems to be very little changed. The narrative remains the same though the developers opted to deliver fans with an over-the-should style camera.

Tropico 6
  • Developer: Limbic Entertainment
  • Publisher: Kalypso Media
  • Platform: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: 2018

The Tropico series is well-known with the sixth main installment launching at some point this year. Players will handle the role of a political president that must bring his country through the hard times it’s currently in. With social unrest and a turmoil over the political outlook, maintaining order and bringing the country together will bring players a challenging task as they attempt to win the citizen’s favor. We know that players will be taking the role of El Presidente within the Caribbean island nation of Tropico where players will control the lands over the course of four eras. One of the new elements being introduced to the franchise is controlling an archipelago of islands where players can build bridges and connect the islands together. Likewise, AI will be tweaked even further which means that if players make a decision that is unfavorable to the citizens then that may cause a shift in productivity to even dealing with revolts.

Trials Rising
  • Developer: RedLynx
  • Publisher: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
  • Release: February 2019

The next Trials game was unveiled during Ubisoft’s E3 2018 press conference. Overall, the same mechanics are in-tacked with gamers controlling a motorcycle racer going through insane courses. With the in-game physics, players must be careful as they make big jumps and avoid obstacles in order to clear the stage.

Control
  • Developer: Remedy Entertainment
  • Publisher: 505 Games
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: 2019

From the development team that has brought out the Max Payne franchise and Alan Wake comes their next big release, Control. The game acts much like their other line of video game titles as players will be going through the game as a third-person shooter. From what we know so far about the game, Remedy Entertainment is telling a story of a woman named Jesse Faden. Jesse was granted unexplained supernatural powers after a childhood traumatic experience and it’s her goal to finally get some questions answered about her past. Joining up with The Oldest House, a Federal Bureau headquarters that study supernatural phenomena, Jesse ends up dealing with more than she bargained for. A new otherworldly force has invaded The Oldest House leaving Jesse to fight back using any means necessary and perhaps at the end she’ll finally learn about her past.
